My Approach

I am a warm and down-to-earth person, and I aim to bring that into the work we do together. I understand that coming to counselling can feel like a big step, so creating a space where you feel safe, at ease, and able to be yourself is really important to me.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different ways of working depending on what feels most helpful for you. Rather than following a fixed approach, I adapt to you as an individual, working at your pace and focusing on what feels most important in the moment.
I’m naturally calm, non-judgemental, and empathic, and I place a lot of value on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe that feeling understood and accepted is a key part of making sense of things and creating change. I see you as the expert in your own experience, and I believe change comes through growing understanding and awareness, rather than direction, and at a pace that feels right for you. In our sessions, I may ask reflective questions, gently challenge where it feels helpful, and support you in exploring things from different perspectives. At times, I may also share parts of my own experience where this feels appropriate and supportive to our work. There may be opportunities to reflect between sessions if that feels useful, helping to deepen the process in a way that feels manageable for you. As a clinical supervisor, I offer a similar approach—creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and collaborative. I aim to support your independence as a practitioner, while also offering gentle challenge, reflection, and encouragement to help you grow in your practice and feel more confident in your work.

My Background

Before training as a counsellor, I worked with the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. It was during this time, alongside my own experience of counselling, that I felt drawn to make a change and move into this area of work. I began by volunteering with Childline and supporting young people at risk of going into care. This experience was incredibly meaningful and helped shape my early understanding of relational and emotional needs. As my training developed, I chose to focus on working with adults, including spending time on placement in Sri Lanka, which broadened my perspective and experience.
Alongside my counselling training, I worked with Mind, where I managed a Wellbeing Centre and Crisis Service, supporting individuals experiencing challenges with mental health, as well as drug and alcohol use. During this time, I also held placements with organisations including GamCare and a bereavement charity, further developing my experience across a range of complex and sensitive areas.
I have also undertaken specialist training in working with couples and went on to become an accredited counsellor, which allows me to support both individuals and relationships with confidence and care.
Over time, my private practice has grown into what you find today. I bring together my professional training, lived experience, and particular interests in areas such as neurodiversity and the impact of difficult relational dynamics, to support you in a way that feels thoughtful, informed, and tailored to you.

“My sessions were helpful because you are a good listener, always very understanding even with the fact that English is not my first language and sometimes it’s hard for me to express certain emotions. You were always trying to work me and make my set and make the sessions for like a safe space.”
